ActivStudio 3 CD Images
I've had problems installing ActivStudio 3 onto the teacher's PC in the lab with the Promethean IWB:
* All three labs' PCs were replaced earlier this year (May 2011) with 93 HP PCs
* The teacher's PC in lab with the Promethean IWB, ICT3, was written off earlier in December 2010, when we were expecting the new HP PCs to be delivered. I totally forgot about the ActivStudio 3 S/W in that PC, since I hardly used it.
* I assumed that the Promethean IWB vendor was still under contract with Brunei's MoE to do maintenance, but in fact their contract ended last year, 2010.
* I downloaded and tried the new ActivInspire from Promethean, but the driver wouldn't recognise the 9-pin serial connection
* I can't find the USB cable that came with the Promethean IWB to try that connection instead. To my best recollection, I can't remember any such USB cable delivered with the IWB package. To be honest, not really keen on un-attaching the IWB from the wall and buying a new 10 metre USB cable.
* The one ActivStudio 3 CD I found had its Windows Version Installation Files burn session corrupted. I know I never tried installing the S/W after receiving the CD during one Promethean IWB training session. The Mac Version Installation Files burn session was alright though, though I haven't tried installing it. That session image link is included below.
* My school's admin queried to the MoE ICT Dept about this issue and received an ActivStudio 3.5.26 CD (self-copied) from them. However, when we tried to install it, it wanted a serial number, and the CD didn't come with any, nor any readme files with serial numbers.
* So, I went online and looked for a serial number and I found one that worked here.
And now, to help myself in the future and others in a similar predicament, I've included links to both PC and Mac disc images below, hosted on my Box.net account. Hopefully you can download it without having to register or ask for my permission or anything.
ActivStudio 3.5.26 for Windows PC 581MB split into 6 files
AtivStudio 3.0.96 for Mac 130MB split into 2 files
P.S. During the installation of the PC version, if it asks for CD2, you can just cancel that installation. It'll proceed successfully. CD2 is just the library CD for resources and templates. Useful, but not crucial.
P.P.S. The CD disc image files are split into 100MB segments, as that's the maximum allowable file size of my Box.net account. Use any unarchiving utility, like WinRAR, to combine them back.
P.P.P.S After you've installed the PC version, you can update it. Today, 14 Nov 2011, it updated it to 3.7.19 successfully.
